Why of course you do. There is so much happening in the Magic City this weekend. Well, that’s if you like beer, crawfish, music and/or our naked statue guy. If you don’t like any of those, you’re out of luck.

Last week I told you about outdoor concerts featuring the Alabama Symphony Orchestra. They’re at it again this weekend, first at Caldwell Park Friday night at 8 then Saturday night same time at Fort McClellan’s Longleaf Park. This weekend’s theme is fit for a movie buff as the symphony performs selections from the Harry Potter movies, Spiderman and more. I’m not typing all the details again, so go read last weekend’s column. Then come right back.

4th Annual Mudbugs and Music Crawfish Boil. Head to Open Door Cafe in Crestline Park, 1115 Dunston Ave., for all-you-can-eat crawfish, live music, activities for kids and more from 2-8 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $20. The 12 and under little ones are free. Event benefits juvenile arthritis programs and research.

Magic City Brewfest Saturday 7-11 p.m. and Sunday 3-7 p.m. If you grow your own hops, you already have your ticket. For the rest of you, let me tell you that the beer will be flowing at Sloss Furnaces. Get out and support the Free the Hop guys and gals trying so hard to get the stupid laws changed in Alabama. Web site has ticket info. A little hint, buy your ticket at the Sloss Gift Shop Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and save on service charges. I don’t heart Ticketmaster.

The Preserve Jazz Festival. Since I haven’t heard anything, I guess I didn’t win the tickets from Wade. I’ll just have to pay my way in Sunday to hear the fine music coming out of The Preserve in Hoover. Tickets are $30 and the Web site has directions. There’s a shuttle so don’t even try parking close.

It’s a birthday kind of weekend. Happy Birthday to you if you share a special day with these guys.

O Captain! My Captain! Saturday is Walt Whitman’s birthday and GreencupBooks is marking the occasion with wine and poetry starting at 7 p.m. They recommend “taking a long solitary walk before and after said party.” I also suggest renting Dead Poet’s Society.

Sunday our very own naked statue guy turns 104. But that ass isn’t a day over 20. Help Vulcan celebrate his fine physique with birthday cake and more from 1-4 p.m. Admission just $3, four and under FREE.
