For those keeping score at home, it’s the one about the fountains and plazas throughout the city as we mentioned on the front page…
What do you think of Larry’s latest plan?

Isn’t the Railroad Park downtown? Wouldn’t that be a nice meeting place?

You kind-of have to plan around these things. Can’t just drop one smack in the middle of Double L’s fave intersection?
Completely mindless waste of money, just like every other one of his divine revelations…
See you guys at the fountain!

One fountain would fund our program for a year. Wouldn’t it be a better use of that money to give music to the children of Birmingham? And there are many other worthwhile efforts out there. When I read this article, I cried because we are trying so hard to raise funds to do something that could really change children’s lives and others seem to be able to easily access huge amounts of money for surface improvements.

I really just love LL’s bait and switch techniques. With all the problems we have (murder, roads, money, domed stadium locations, etc), you’d think he’d come up with new ways to attract business and fight crime. But instead, he uses his creative firepower to find a new way to burn $300 grand. Awesome.

Is this an attempt to distract us from our many problems? I know that we have many problems that need to be resolved. How can we solve our county’s bond problem if Jefferson county’s cities are sinking too? Is it possible to construct public fountains of such beauty ,that people will come here to view them? Will they be willing to come from Italy to see our new fountains?

Fountains at the Plaza? The upside-down Plaza? What… like beer fountains? Oh hell yeah…. it’s about time Larry came up with a good idea for a change. Hey, you know what? Why not turn VULCAN into a fountain and let him spew cold beer into this huge pool where everybody could just grab a quick brewsky or maybe even take a little beer dip…. with clothes or suits, of course.
The more I think about Larry’s plan to install beer fountains at the Plaza the more I begin to like him as our mayor. We need a guy like him thinking about us little guys…. guys who have to buy beer. Thanks, Larry…. you got my vote.
PS - You can have the VULCAN spewing beer idea…. no credit to me necessary. Maybe a free beer or two when this thing get underway but otherwise… just glad to help.

Better tack on the cost for some more police officers to keep the homeless out of these fountains. Oh, and how about fixing the roads downtown so visitors don’t break an axle on their way to all of downtown’s sights. Lala’s head is a fountain…with crap just a flowing right out into our laps!
I agree, Jeane…how about using the money on the FUTURE of Birmingham…the KIDS!
