Because of my job, I actually go straight to the organizations for info. I go to shows at WorkPlay more frequently than any other venue, so I will often look there first when I’m in the mood for a concert. But if I’m looking for an activity on a specific day, activeculture.info has the most comprehensive list of local websites.
I too will go straight to the venues website. I haven’t found a decent site that has what I’m looking for. The websites that do this kind of thing tend to have a generic/bad layout and they also have to many entries to sift through (activeculture, I’m looking at you). And, as sad as it is, bulletins from certain social networking sites tend to keep me updated as well.
I also have been going to individual venue sites to gather the info I need, and began a site in order to gather that info into one location. By all means check it out (www.r3vrb.com). It’s just one man’s legwork and opinion, but it is current, and I do post every day! Hope that helps.
Well, gee… How about MallBirmingham.com… whenever I need local, up to date, informative and interesting information about local events I want to see or know about there is only one site that really fills the bill for me…. MallBirmingham.com. It is without a doubt the best source of all my local entertainment information. Thanks for providing me a great place to say so. moss

I agree- I go to their website. Many of them have MySpace accounts and I get their bulletins there.
I have found out about an event via Craigslist.com which was wild.
I have used pollstar.com to find out about concerts in the city.

I inadvertently ran across a good site called ActiveCulture.info.
It complements Black and White and Birmingham Weekly. And, yes, MallBirmingham.com, too.
