We figured we’d save this story for today as a way to warm up. The Seven Springs Ecoscape was officially dedicated yesterday during a mid-afternoon ceremony that included attendance by Birmingham City Councilors Miriam Witherspoon (it is located in her district) and Valerie Abbott.

It’s located directly across from Faith Apostolic Church (where Bishop Heron Johnson just happened to be celebrating his birthday yesterday). The first phase includes native species, with additional phases to include participation from area children and students attending the nearby school.

The project is the eighth such project completed by the Southern Environmental Center at Birmingham Southern College. Their website has a list of the other seven sites in case you’re interested in visiting them.

Check out the map to get directions so you can check it out for yourself.
