The BJCTA’s participation in the annual Dump the Pump advocacy campaign isn’t the only positive thing happening right now. A new website and a reworking of its governing legislation are pretty exciting as well.

Folks who hear about buses exploding into flames here in Birmingham would think it only happens here; it doesn’t. They’d also assume the BJCTA isn’t thinking about ordering new buses; they are. We may want to wait a while before we pass judgment on the agency’s future.

We’re not sure what’s worse – the fact that we were already researching the names of previous executive directors for metro Birmingham’s beleaguered transit authority for a couple of weeks now or the fact that even incomplete it’s a long list. So, where are some of them now?

The BJCTA is holding a series of public meetings that conclude this week to go over proposed changes along several routes meant to provide better service to the general public. Here’s an opportunity for those choice riders among us to help raise awareness for those that are transit dependent here in Birmingham, AL.

This week the Birmingham City Council gives those with overdue taxes and traffic citations a chance for it to be a little less painful while also moving towards helping to add yet another theater to the downtown scene and possibly giving those who ride mass transit a couple more things to take a look at while they’re waiting for the bus.
