We’ll be seeing a little less neon around metro Birmingham come the beginning of next year – unless Carmike finds a way to work it into their plans for the area locations they’re purchasing from Rave. It essentially removes Rave from the state market and gives Carmike control of an IMAX screen.

Fans of independent film in Birmingham, AL are beginning to organize to attempt to bring a venue to screen them into the city center. Meanwhile, a new multiplex on the city’s east side looks to eventually provide a couple of options for those not wanting to continue to drive elsewhere to enjoy indies.
