Turns out the magic number is four

July 18th, 2008 by Andre · 5 Comments

That’s how many Starbucks Coffee locations are actually closing in metro Birmingham. Besides the two locations that have been reported about earlier in local media, we’re also losing locations on Rocky Ridge Road and one on Parkway East. These would be four of the newer locations in town. The one that recently opened in Hoover on Hwy. 31 is safe (compared to the five locations closing in Mobile).

Here’s the list of all of the U.S. locations slated for closure. (Thanks Kara).

Thanks for the news, open coffee shops critical info for us geeks. Hmm, wonder what you do with a closed starbucks?

I tend to prefer the independant coffee shops anyway, there’s one on Valley in Homewood that’s a favorite spot.

I’d rather go to independents myself, though I do have a weakness for one coffee chain in particular… and they’re taking applications for locations throughout Alabama. Anybody?

That means that Alabama is closing more than the average stores / state.
I never went to those locations but it’s still a bum deal.

No, that’s not what it means. A look at the list shows that other states are losing the same amount, with some cities and metro areas losing more.
