Nonna’s closing it’s doors tonight

June 27th, 2008 by Andre Natta · 2 Comments

Early this morning we received an email saying that Nonna’s in Vestavia City Center will be closing its doors for good this evening. Michael Glaser, local drummer and member of the ensemble jazz group Mingusphere, shared the news with members of his email list about the Italian restaurant. The restaurant’s website is no longer up either. Sad news for fans of the restaurant and fans of the regular jazz performances as well.

Sorry to hear about this because I liked Nonna’s. Vestavia City Center seems to have a hard time holding on to all but chain restaurants like Moe’s, Pannera, and Starbucks. Dale’s seems to be doing ok.

I don’t know if the rent is too high, or if the people in the area just aren’t going out to eat as much in the evenings, but I can never seem to eat at the same place twice there.

I’ve heard excellent things about the creole/cajun place that’s in the Vestavia City Center…

Apparently the owners still operate 3 restaurants in New Orleans and moved here to start this one…
