BSC alum called up by Oakland A’s

May 17th, 2007 by Andre Natta · No Comments

Connor Robertson - Courtesy of BSC AthleticsAs Birmingham Southern College prepares to end its last year as a NCAA Division I school, many in their athletics department are probably quite pleased with the news received yesterday morning. The college released a statement yesterday announcing that former Panthers first baseman/closer Connor Robertson had been called up by the Oakland Athletics from their Triple-A team, the Sacramento RiverCats . He replaces RHP Huston Street on the major league roster.

Huston was placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 13, with an irritation in his right ulnar nerve. Robertson will be the first-ever former Panther to play in the Majors when he takes the mound for the first-time.
