We just received word that Samford University has announced plans to take down Ramsay Hall, the all-male residence hall that suffered a roof collapse in March of 2008, having “…reached a resolution in the insurance process.”

The announcement was made earlier this evening via an email sent by the university’s vice president for operations and planning, Dr. Sarah Latham, to students and faculty.

The structure will be demolished and then be replaced to help deal with the increasing need for housing on campus. According to the email, “the current economic climate makes it difficult to offer certain[ty] with regard to a timeline for starting construction on a replacement fo Ramsay.”

The email stated that the university would wait until after graduation to begin demolishing the former residence hall.
