The Birmingham City Council delayed its decision on whether or not to tear down Boutwell Auditorium for four (4) weeks while they collect data to determine the next steps. Something else to consider – what happens to that mural that currently graces the eastern wall of the 83-year old building when the building comes down?

Next April’s ONB Magic City Art Connection was ranked one of the top 20 events to attend for that month by the Atlanta-based Southeast Tourism Society, which could lead to a larger crowd than normal for the festival, which is scheduled to be celebrating its 25th anniversary, thanks to the extra media coverage that the designation carries.

Tomorrow morning President Bush will sign a law passed by Congress increasing automobile fuel economy for the first time in 32 years. The new bill will require that an auto maker’s fleet fuel efficiency go from 25 to 35 miles per gallon by 2010.
